Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a team in Ocean County, New Jersey on a Long-term Contract basis. This position is well suited for someone who excels at resolving complex accounting issues, organizing financial information, and strengthening day-to-day accuracy across the accounting function. The role will support ongoing operations by investigating account activity, refining reporting practices, and helping the team maintain reliable financial records in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile a wide range of balance sheet accounts and ensure supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date.
  • Investigate variances, aged items, and historical accounting issues to identify root causes and drive resolution.
  • Prepare, review, and record journal entries related to adjustments, corrections, and ongoing accounting activity.
  • Examine high volumes of financial information to detect inconsistencies and improve data reliability across the general ledger.
  • Contribute to accounting process improvements and provide support for operational changes affecting financial workflows and reporting.
  • Use advanced Excel tools to sort, analyze, and reconcile complex datasets efficiently.
  • Collaborate with accounting and finance partners to strengthen reporting accuracy and maintain consistency in account analysis.
  • Communicate reconciliation results, accounting treatment, and process findings clearly to team members and stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on accounting support during a period of organizational change while helping establish stronger controls and accountability.
