Accountant Marshall School Duluth, MN Job Details Full-time $62,000 - $72,000 a year 6 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Paid time off Retirement plan Qualifications Accounts receivable Data visualization software proficiency Machine learning/AI-based analysis Business intelligence Tooling IT transformation Writing skills Automation software ERP systems Business intelligence report generation Software implementation Process design Business intelligence tools Bachelor's degree Technology management Financial workflow efficiency improvements Problem-solving Vendor communication Cash management AI-driven automation Excel formulas Financial data analysis tools Data analysis software Financial process automation Time management Full Job Description Position Overview The Accountant reports to the Director of Finance and Operations and is responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger entries and audit preparation. ​​ Primary Responsibilities Prepares journal entries and ensures month end closing is completed within timelines given Reconciles general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting Coordinates with development office to ensure gifts are accurately counted Ensures facility rental deposits and revenue are recorded appropriately Coordinates work papers and reconciliations for annual audit Manages accounts payable and company credit cards Prepares and distributes 1099s Manages student meal plans and lunch accounts Prepares bank deposits Records and posts all bank transactions Ensures account receivable payments are timely and accurately posted Initial contact for collection of overdue student accounts receivable Serves as contact with tuition insurance provider and coordinates claims with families & insurance company Manages business office petty cash, cafeteria, concessions & athletics petty cash Ad hoc reporting
Technology Implementation:
Support the implementation, migration, and optimization of financial software systems and accounting modules. Partner with IT and cross-functional teams to streamline financial workflows through system integrations and process automation.
AI Integration & Data Analytics:
Leverage AI-driven tools to automate manual accounting processes, including invoice processing, expense categorization, and bank reconciliations. Develop dashboards and data visualizations to provide insights for executive leadership. Physical Requirements Typical office environment physical demands Required Skills Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years general accounting experience Strong problem solving skills Thorough knowledge of applicable general ledger systems & procedures Strong writing and verbal communication skills Personal integrity, ability to work independently and with a team, with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to interact with employees, parents and vendors in a professional manner
Technology & Implementation Experience:
Experience in financial system implementation and accounting software. Demonstrated ability to map financial processes and identify opportunities for digital transformation.
Software & AI:
Experience with ERP systems, business intelligence tools, and Excel functions. Familiarity with emerging financial technologies and AI/ML applications in accounting to drive efficiency and accuracy. Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
Salary range:
