Our company is a leading provider of quality assisted living management services located in Duluth, MN. We manage the day-to-day operations for 9 Assisted Living Facilities located throughout Northern Minnesota. We are seeking candidates for a Staff Accountant position. The Staff Accountant plays an integral role in assisting the Assistant Controller and CEO through all aspects of accounting. Responsible for accounts payable, payroll and assisting with the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, general ledger entries, account reconciliation, year-end audits and executing special projects. We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented, accounting professional to perform and coordinate accounting and finance duties within our company. Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services. Verify that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures. Data entry of invoices for payment. Manage the weekly check run. Maintain and manage the debit card expense reporting program. Maintain listing of accounts payable. Maintain updated vendor files. Handle inquiries from vendors. Maintain accounts payable system records. Prepare and distribute 1099, 1098, 1096, and other related tax forms. Close accounts payable on a monthly basis, review, correct, and distribute reports. Audit employee expenses to ensure compliance with corporate policy before recording. Provide administrative support to the accounting function to ensure effective and efficient office operations. Maintain inventory files. Maintain a filing system for all financial documents. Maintains historical records by scanning and filing documents. Payroll Process bi-weekly transfer of timeclock data to payroll system. Compile and record employee time and payroll data. Compute employees' time worked and bonuses. Compute back-pay and prepare paychecks. Processes employment verifications. Compile data such as garnishments, PTO time. Review data from electronic timeclock for completeness and accuracy. Contact various departments and supervisors for missed payroll data. Prepare bi-weekly payroll journal entries for financial statements. Compile internal management/overtime reports from payroll system as requested. Financial Statements Perform general bookkeeping tasks such as verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions. Preparation of general ledger entries and account reconciliations. Support month, quarter, and year-end close processes. Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements. Maintain, review, and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures. Performing other accounting duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or other advanced degree in accounting required. 3+ years of accounting experience required. Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Microsoft Excel proficiency is required. High degree of accuracy and attention-to-detail. Strong analytical skills. Proactively communicates with colleagues and leadership on status and issues. Keen organizational and record-keeping skills. Strong verbal communication skills, business writing proficiency, and data entry skills. Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks. Comfortable handling confidential information. MN DHS Background Study clearance. Desire to be a part of a small, entrepreneurial, energetic management team.
Compensation:
Salary range $65,000 to $70,000, depending on experience.
