The Impact You Will Have Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Senior Accountant in Eagan, MN. The Senior Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records by preparing and reviewing moderately complex journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role performs analysis, investigates discrepancies, and partners with stakeholders to improve processes while maintaining compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and internal controls. Senior Accountants work independently on assigned areas and contribute to audits and special projects across the organization. Your Responsibilities Compile and analyze financial data to prepare accurate and timely journal entries. Prepare, record, and analyze month-end accruals; perform calculations and supporting reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy. Support month-end and year-end processes by managing assigned responsibilities and ensuring timely, accurate completion of related financial schedules. Perform and document moderately complex account reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances promptly. Support internal, external, and regulatory audits by providing documentation and acting as a resource. Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet variance analysis for assigned accounts, explain drivers, and collaborate with stakeholders to address issues. Investigate discrepancies and perform ad hoc analysis and reporting; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Partner with stakeholders to drive process improvement and automation. Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, internal controls, and corporate accounting policies; maintain documentation and update procedures as required. Assist with new product and business line setup as needed; design accounting flows, controls, documentation and refine processes as products matures. Maintain and/or lead established moderately complex accounting projects as assigned by management. Required Skills and Experience 5+ years of accounting experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. Strong written, oral and listening communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with complex Microsoft Excel workbooks and formulas. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree. Heath insurance experience. Working knowledge of GAAP and statutory reporting requirements, including preparation or support of related financial statements. Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes. Experience using ERP or general ledger systems (e.g., SAP or similar platforms). Experience documenting accounting processes, procedures, and controls. Experience working with cross-functional or external partners (e.g., auditors, third-party vendors) to support accounting operations.

Pay Range:
$68,900.00 - $91,300.00 - $113,700.00 Annual Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
