We serve investors and homeowners across the Twin Cities with a high standard of service and a "Better Together" approach. We move fast, hold a high bar, and expect our team to do the same. Position Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented, systems-savvy Property Management Accountant to own the accounting function across Fuze Real Estate's property management and corporate operations. This role is the financial backbone of the company — responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all accounting activity. You will own the full accounting cycle from daily transactions to monthly closes to year-end filings, and serve as a trusted resource for leadership, property managers, and owners. You will work closely with our operations and property management teams to ensure our financials are clean, our owners are paid correctly, and our trust accounts are airtight. Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Close & Reconciliation Perform monthly bank, credit card, trust account, and loan/liability reconciliations Post accruals and adjustments; review the general ledger for anomalies Investigate and correct trust account discrepancies Review AR/AP aging and lock prior periods after close Perform AppFolio reconciliations and resolve diagnostic issues Conduct year-end reconciliations and prepare tax-ready financials General Ledger Management Maintain and approve the chart of accounts Record and categorize all income and expenses Prepare journal entries and handle reversals (NSF, chargebacks, credits) Enter bills and receipts; conduct ongoing bank statement review Payables Processing Schedule and process payments (ACH, check, credit card) Track unpaid bills and AP aging Prevent duplicate or unauthorized payments Process owner distributions and verify management fees and reserves prior to disbursement Review management fee calculations before each owner distribution run Owner Ledgers & Reporting Prepare and distribute monthly owner statements and owner packets Manage owner reserves and process statement corrections Ensure expenses are correctly allocated (management fees, maintenance, etc.) Trust Account Maintenance Design trust structure and inter-account transfer processes Maintain separate trust accounts for rent, security deposits, and earnest money Ensure zero commingling of funds and investigate any discrepancies Payroll & Tax Compliance Review payroll reports and reconcile payroll to the GL Maintain independent contractor records and W-9s Track 1099 eligibility and ensure quarterly compliance filings occur Issue W-2s and 1099s annually; support CPA filings Accounting Integrity & Compliance Own overall accounting accuracy and integrity across all entities Design, enforce, and document internal controls and SOPs Ensure compliance with trust account regulations, payroll, and tax rules Approve accounting policies for bad debt reserves, capitalization thresholds, and write-off policies Support audits, inspections, bonding requirements, and dispute resolution Monitor regulatory changes and serve as the primary audit and regulator liaison Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow Build and maintain annual corporate budgets Forecast cash flow and liquidity on a quarterly basis Monitor working capital and support draw and payroll planning Advise leadership on financial health and scaling pace Reporting & Analysis Prepare P&L by entity, department, and property; balance sheet; and cash flow statements Produce budget vs. actual reports, KPI dashboards, margin analysis, and trend analysis Present quarterly financial summaries to leadership Support pricing, fee decisions, and growth planning with financial insights HOA Accounting Reconcile HOA bank accounts monthly and record all income and expenses Review and approve accounts payable entries Develop and propose annual HOA budgets and reserve study forecasts Prepare year-end financial summaries and issue 1099s for HOA vendors via AppFolio What We're Looking For Strong understanding of accounting principles Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field High attention to detail with a zero-tolerance approach to errors Comfortable owning the full accounting cycle independently Clear communicator who can translate financials for non-accounting stakeholders Proactive about identifying issues and improving processes Tech-savvy and quick to learn new platforms Preferred Experience Experience in property management or real estate accounting Hands-on experience with Quickbooks and/or property management software Familiarity with trust accounting requirements under Minnesota landlord-tenant law Prior exposure to HOA accounting a plus Compensation & Schedule $50,000 - $55,000 annually (commensurate with experience) Full-time, in-office role based in Edina, MN Standard business hours Why Join Fuze High-growth, fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts operations Ownership of a critical function with visibility across the entire business Strong team culture built on accountability and collaboration Direct exposure to leadership and strategic decision-making
