  • $67,588 / annually Job Description The Senior Cashier position provides lead work, training, and daily cashiering within the Cashier's Office.
This position provides training and support to departments regarding setup of web payment accounts and processes their web deposits when needed to ensure secure and accurate reporting. Submit policy and procedure requests to the Cashiers and Collections Supervisor to streamline efficiencies and process improvement. The Senior Cashier is responsible for payment plans, daily cash reporting, bank reconciliation of cash handling transactions, quarterly change fund audits and other duties as assigned. Set up credit card machines and event websites for departments as well as help maintain those functions. Provides customer service to students, staff and customers and supports compliance with institutional financial policies. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems. Knowledge of a private or governmental accounting system, sufficient to query and compile records and reports, and assist with preparation and maintenance of spending plans, financial status reports and budget requests. Working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, word processing software, computers and other office equipment such as calculators. Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile data and balance accounts. Ability to design, interpret and explain work procedures and operations and provide advice on fiscal policies and procedures. Preferred Qualification Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. Knowledge of higher education and State of Minnesota requirements related to the recording of revenue and/or cash handling. Ability to provide excellent customer service to our customers including public, students, families, and employees to explain policies and procedures and respond to complaints from customers. Skilled in using the following Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel and Access. Organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to prepare and analyze the reconciliation of data in an effective manner. Other Requirements Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
