Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role is essential in analyzing and managing the company's costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, cost management techniques, and financial analysis. They will play a key role in maintaining compliance with industry standards such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and internal controls including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the organization's financial health through meticulous data collection, cost analysis, and reporting. Duties Prepare detailed cost reports and assist in financial report writing to support management decision-making. Conduct cost analysis and cash flow analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings. Manage general ledger accounting activities, including account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation. Utilize ERP systems such as SAP or Xero to record transactions accurately within the company's financial software. Perform account analysis for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other key accounts. Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant data insights. Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal control procedures during all accounting activities. Reconcile the company's accounts using accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, or Quicken. Assist with internal audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring SOX compliance. Interpret financial reports to identify discrepancies or irregularities requiring further investigation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve cost management strategies and financial processes. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a similar role involving financial analysis. Proficiency with accounting software such as SAP, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or ERP systems. Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation. Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures. Experience with financial report writing and interpretation of complex financial data. Ability to perform forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis effectively. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data collection. Familiarity with technical accounting standards and principles such as GAAP. This position is integral to maintaining accurate financial records while supporting strategic initiatives through comprehensive cost management.
