Project Accountant

Description Our team is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join our Full-Time Engagement Professionals practice. In this role, you will support clients on critical initiatives, special projects, and interim assignments while enjoying the stability of full-time employment with our company. What You'll Do + Manage project accounting activities, including budgeting, forecasting, tracking costs, and variance analysis + Monitor project financial performance and provide reporting to leadership and stakeholders + Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support related to project activity + Review project contracts, billing terms, and revenue recognition requirements + Track labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and other project-related expenses + Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing tied to projects + Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and client-specific requirements + Partner with project managers and operational leaders to improve financial visibility and decision-making + Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and clean-up initiatives as needed + Support audits and special accounting projects Requirements Qualifications + 3+ years of accounting experience, including project accounting or construction/accounting project support + Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting + Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking + Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel + Ability to adapt quickly to new environments, systems, and teams + Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills + CPA or progress toward certification is a plus Preferred Experience + Experience in project-based environments such as construction, engineering, professional services, or consulting + Familiarity with revenue recognition and contract review + Exposure to ERP platforms such as Oracle, NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
