Job Summary The Accounting Supervisor Senior role exists to oversee and elevate the financial operations of the agency within the Financial Services Department. This position is instrumental in managing the SWIFT Accounting System, leading the payroll and purchasing procurement processes, and ensuring the integrity of the accounts payable and receivables cycle. The Accounting Supervisor Senior plays a crucial role in reconciling reports used in preparation and presentation of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, facilitating the agency's external audit processes and acting as the cornerstone for financial documentation and compliance. Furthermore, the role encompasses the strategic development and oversight of an agency-wide fiscal compliance and best practices training program, aimed at fortifying the agency's adherence to state and federal regulations, thereby safeguarding its fiscal integrity. Additionally, provide support and backup for the preparation of the financial statements, processing of payroll, procurement, and accounting transactions. This comprehensive responsibility highlights the position's key role in supervision and providing backups for all responsibilities under them, ensuring a resilient and efficient financial services division. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of experience with the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, or procurement processes of the State of Minnesota, or similarly complex organization. Two (2) years of experience reconciling financial accounts and reports. Experience with Minnesota's Statewide Integrated Financial Tools (SWIFT), or similarly complex Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Strong oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to engage effectively with others while managing projects and solving problems. Demonstrated ability to lead others by providing guidance, direction, and support to accounting staff in managing financial operations, accuracy, and compliance. Ability to prioritize work responsibilities to manage a variety of tasks and meet deadlines. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or similar applications with the ability to create quality work products including forms, spreadsheets, budgets, databases, and correspondence. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university. Two (2) years of experience of supervisory, directing, or managing the day-to-day financial operations of a state agency or similar governmental organization. Two (2) years of experience with the fiscal year end closing process at a state agency or similar governmental organization. Experience with preparation of financial statements, including generation of reports and reconciliation of accounts. Experience with State of Minnesota procurement processes. Experience working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures. Physical Requirements Ability to position self and move sufficiently to perform repetitive tasks. Maintain a stationary position for long periods of time. Ability to carry up to 20 pounds of weight on an infrequent basis.
