Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Healthcare Accountant to join our financial team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing financial data within healthcare organizations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and supporting the organization's financial health. Your expertise will help drive accurate financial reporting, streamline accounting processes, and contribute to strategic decision-making. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment dedicated to improving healthcare delivery through sound financial management. Duties Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and industry-specific standards such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of accounts receivable and accounts payable records Oversee regulatory reporting requirements specific to healthcare entities and governmental agencies Perform financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, and budget variance analysis to support organizational planning Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions, audit trails, and internal controls Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms for efficient bookkeeping and financial management Skills Strong knowledge of GAAP, technical accounting standards, and healthcare-specific regulations such as LIHTC and securities law Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or equivalent systems Experience with SOX compliance, regulatory reporting, and governmental accounting practices Expertise in financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, and financial statement preparation Solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles—debits & credits—and accrual accounting methods Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, and account reconciliation efficiently Excellent analytical skills with a focus on financial concepts like budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and general ledger reconciliation Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members while fostering a collaborative team environment Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices related to healthcare organizations is a plus Familiarity with securities law and estate planning (wills & trusts) is advantageous but not required Join us if you're passionate about leveraging your accounting expertise to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector!
