Job Summary Accountant II role is responsible for providing leadership to cashier, other accountants and coordinators within the accounting department, while also collaborating with the Controller/Assistant Controller to ensure compliance in maintaining hospital financial records.

Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Provides leadership and oversight for cashiers and general ledger coordinators
- Prepare accounting records in accordance with
GAAP/GASB
- Investigate errors and correct as needed
- Participate in audit reviews
- Assess financial impact of services, programs, and monitor financial cost for ongoing services
- Prepare documents/reports in response to inquiries from state, federal, or third party payers
- Create and maintain statistical reports
- Collaborate with Controller/Assistant Controller to ensure compliance
- All other related duties assigned under accounting Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- +3 years of experience in public accounting, preferably healthcare environment
- +3 years analyzing data using spreadsheets
- +1 year of demonstrated leadership leading people and/or processes
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations

- Able to articulate applied principles and procedures of accounting
- Numerical ability to perform rapid and accurate arithmetic computations with or without adding machine/calculator
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
- Ability to operate computer and calculator by touch
- Good attention to detail; Ability to post and compute figures and prepare financial statements following standard methods and procedures Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships The person in this role will have interactions with other accountants, department directors, and senior level management within the hospital Physical Capabilities Occasionally exerts a small amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects.
Should be able to lift 10 lbs. Work involves sitting for prolonged periods of time.
