JOB SUMMARY
Serve as a Payroll and General Ledger Accountant in the Finance Department working with the Controller to ensure all financial obligations are met in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor in Accounting from accredited institution Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting office with progressive responsibilities Ability to process payroll (ADP payroll experience preferred) Understanding of accounting principles Understanding of General Ledger Accounting
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitor incoming bank ACHs and create journal entries for review Maintain payroll system. This position will be responsible for the bi-weekly processing of payroll for approximately 200 employees, and the preparation of the payroll journal entry Post journal entries prepared by Controller; create and post journal entries that are recurring. Assist with the billing, invoicing, and collections process for grants as directed by the controller Reconcile payroll benefit accounts to vendor invoices Perform ad hoc reporting from the ERP system as requested by the Controller and CFO Assist with compilation of information for audit requests Provides coverage in the absence of the AP/AR Accountant Responsible for special assignments when requested Other Duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills:
Knowledgeable in all phases of accounting including understanding the payables and receivables lifecycle, cash flow concepts, payroll reporting, and basic financial statement report.
Technology Skills:
Proficient computer skills including having a good command of the Microsoft suite of software (especially Excel) as well as being able to learn our ERP system (MIP) and asset/depreciation system (Asset Keeper).

Identify problems, use good judgment and make decisions based on facts, sound reasoning and weighing of possible outcomes.
