Full-time Description:
A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking an exempt, full-time Director - Financial Systems and Reporting on the Kirksville, MO campus. This position plays a key leadership role in modernizing and strengthening the University's financial systems and reporting infrastructure while supporting accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. This position requires a strong accounting foundation combined with demonstrated ability to configure, optimize, and fully leverage financial systems to automate reporting, improve data integrity, and support accurate system-driven financial reporting. Reporting to the Controller - Financial Reporting, this position serves as the functional lead for the University's accounting system and related financial applications and will play a central role in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a replacement enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Key Responsibilities Duties & Responsibilities Lead administration, configuration, and optimization of the University's accounting system and related financial applications, including purchasing, budgeting, travel, student accounts, and fixed assets. Participate in the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing support of a replacement ERP system. Ensure accounting systems support accurate financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and reporting tools to support leadership decision-making. Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and reporting enhancements. Serve as primary liaison between finance, IT, and system vendors for system upgrades, integrations, and issue resolution. Support internal and external audits by ensuring accuracy and availability of financial system data and reports. Assist with general ledger support, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes. Collaborate with departments across the University to ensure financial systems meet institutional and operational needs.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field. Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Experience managing and working with enterprise accounting systems (ERP platforms). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills. Advanced proficiency with Excel and financial reporting tools. Preferred Qualification s Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Experience with ERP implementations or system conversions. Experience in higher education, healthcare, or nonprofit organizations. Experience developing dashboards or modern financial reporting tools. Preferred Systems Experience Experience with enterprise accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), Workday, NetSuite, Ellucian Banner or Colleague, or similar ERP platforms; budgeting systems such as BudgetPak; procurement and expense systems such as Unimarket or Chrome River; and reporting tools such as Power BI, Management Reporter, and advanced Excel is preferred. Experience with student financial systems such as Anthology Student is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The ability to configure, optimize, and fully leverage financial systems to automate reporting, improve data integrity, and support accurate system-driven financial reporting. Strong accounting and financial reporting expertise. Ability to translate accounting requirements into system functionality. Ability to improve financial processes through technology and automation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity. Ability to work collaboratively across departments. Ability to manage multiple priorities and institutional initiatives.
