In this vital role, you will be responsible for reconciling approximately 125 bank accounts with the General Ledger monthly. Duties include reconciling checks and/or deposits, researching discrepancies, posting journal entries, processing check copy requests, filing and other miscellaneous clerical tasks. Essential Job Functions Maintains current and accurate banking and investment records for Treasury Operations. Assists with managing city's investment portfolio, including but not limited to maintaining trade tickets and processing invoices. Works with Reconciliation Accountant, Comptroller's Office and other departments on monthly bank reconciliations and fund investments, including General Ledger research and reconciliation. Handles daily maintenance related to the reconciliation process, retrieves check images, and assists with statement rendering for up to 45 financial accounts. Reviews investment activity and submits report of involvement and reconciles interest. Clears reconciled items within 90 days from the point of identification and reconciling accounts within 30 calendar days. Support preparation of standard and ad hoc management reports through information verification, proofreading, assembly and other related activities. Reports, to internal partners, expired checks for each bank account and assists with addressing outstanding checks. Manage and process unclaimed property reports for the State of Missouri for their respective assigned accounts. Servers as a secondary back-up cashier in his/her absence. Works on other special projects as needed. Qualifications Requires three or more years' experience in bank reconciliation, bookkeeping or accounting. Associate degree in accounting, auditing or business preferred. Knowledge of bank reconciliation and clearing account balancing. Have strong working knowledge of accounting theories and practices and accepted office procedures. Ability to perform a high volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy. Excellent communication, research and analytical skills. Have ability to solve problems logically and creatively. Prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, legible manner. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, facility personnel, banking officials and the public. Ability to organize and prioritize high volume of work, often under the pressure of multiple demands, deadlines and interruptions while maintaining close attention to detail and accuracy. Requires the ability to utilize a variety of reference, journal entries, technical operating manuals, regulations, procedures, and non-routine correspondence. Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the direction, control and planning of an entire program or multiple programs. Must be PC proficient with strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge of Oracle ERP, and VLOOKUP preferred.
Pay:
$56,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
