Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a growing organization in Saint Louis, Missouri in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position will lead core accounting activities, support accurate financial reporting, and help strengthen day-to-day processes across the accounting function. The role also works closely with leadership to improve efficiency, oversee key operational accounting tasks, and provide dependable insight into financial performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the full accounting cycle, including journal entries, general ledger activity, and routine account reconciliations.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements and internal reports that support management decision-making.
  • Lead monthly and year-end closing activities while ensuring balance sheet accounts are reviewed and reconciled on schedule.
  • Maintain records for fixed assets and prepaid expenses to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide guidance to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing staff while reviewing transactions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Monitor customer accounts, support collection efforts, and help resolve billing or account discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile inventory balances against physical counts and operational data to ensure reliable valuation and reporting.
  • Analyze inventory and cost-related variances, investigate exceptions, and maintain supporting documentation for inventory activity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, resolve system-related issues, and enhance efficiency across AP and AR processes.
