Job Description

Dickerson Petroleum is a privately owned Retail & Wholesale Petroleum Company in the Central MS area. We own and operate Convenience Stores and truck stops, a growing Tank and Lubricants business, Emergency fueling services, and are affiliated with the Dickerson Transportation and Crane Services businesses. Summary:
The GL Accountant works in collaboration with internal departments to gather, analyze and report on the financial activities of the Companies. The role combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to gather & analyze data, and design and produce reports & reconciliations that accurately reflect the operations' financial results. This GL Accountant also plays a critical role in ensuring that the Company collects, reconciles and reports information accurately and promptly to management. The ideal candidate is a highly detail oriented, critical thinker who possesses strong general ledger maintenance and review skills and the ability to collaborate with all functional areas of the business. Along with the accounting team, this position supports the accounting activities of Dickerson Transportation and other affiliated companies.
Specific Responsibilities:
Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial information Designing & preparing financial and operational activity reports to ensure accurate financial reporting Preparing journal entries for the monthly general ledger close Assisting in the preparation of corporate financial statements Overseeing the reconciling of customer credit card activities and researching discrepancies Monitoring C-Store paperwork accuracy and assisting store operations managers as needed Assisting with Customer and internal pricing reports, warehouse and tank inventory tracking and reporting Monitoring daily and monthly Fuel reconciliations, and researching discrepancies Reconciling accounts to the general ledger and researching differences Analyzing income statement accounts to ensure accuracy of records Maintaining the general ledgers and producing financial statements for the real estate and other small business entities in the Dickerson family of Companies Performing process improvement activities to streamline and increase efficiencies in various accounting and reporting processes Assisting the Accounting Manager with PDI Enterprise troubleshooting and efficiency improvements Providing exceptional customer service to both external and internal customers Protecting organization's value by keeping information confidential Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities Contributing to department and organization special projects and tasks, as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
A minimum of an Associate's Degree with an emphasis in accounting and two (2) - four (4) years of progressive accounting experience, specifically in month end close and financial statement preparation Experience in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) Proficiency in Excel is required Advanced analytical and problem solving skills High attention to detail Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to establish goals, priorities, and expectations to obtain optimal performance. Professional demeanor Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently Possess a broad understanding and knowledge of federal, state, and local financial reporting regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Experience in the Convenience Store business and/or the retail/wholesale petroleum industry is highly desired by not required Reporting to:

40 hours per week on-site. A Hybrid work arrangement will be considered for candidates more than 50 miles from the office.
Salary:
$60,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Eligible for bonus program.
