Job Description

Staff Accountant Position Overview Under the Supervision of the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the City's fixed assets, capital projects, grants, and special revenue funds. This position ensures compliance with governmental accounting standards and provides technical support in specialized accounting areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Track and maintain grants and compliance reporting Manage fixed asset inventory, capitalization, and depreciation schedules Track and account for capital projects and related expenditures Monitor special revenue funds (including Tourism & Convention Fund, Debt Service Fund, and others) Assist the Finance Director with debt analysis, including bonds, loans, and notes Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for audits Assume responsibility for Amphitheater accounting and administration Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Governmental accounting experience Reconciliation experience (bank, general ledger, or fund-level) Experience with MUNIS or similar governmental ERP/financial system Direct experience with grants management, fixed asset accounting/depreciation, capital project tracking, and special revenue funds Experience with debt service tracking or bond analysis Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
