Our client, a growing manufacturing and operations-driven company located in the Fuquay-Varina, NC area, needs a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join their accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working closely with operations and playing a key role in costing, profitability analysis, and financial accuracy in a dynamic environment. While working as the Cost Accountant, you will partner with Accounting, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to support accurate costing and financial reporting, with responsibilities including: Developing, maintaining, and analyzing standard cost systems for products and materials Monitoring and analyzing manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and production variances Performing monthly cost accounting close activities and reconciliations Reviewing inventory valuation and ensuring proper costing methodologies are applied Analyzing production yields, scrap, and efficiency metrics, and investigating variances Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes related to cost of goods sold and production expenses Partnering with operations to understand cost drivers and improve cost accuracy Preparing detailed cost reports, variance analyses, and management reporting Assisting with inventory reconciliations and ensuring proper classification of costs Supporting audits and compliance requirements related to cost accounting and inventory valuation Identifying opportunities to improve costing processes, systems, and reporting efficiency This is an outstanding opportunity with a company that values accuracy, operational insight, and continuous improvement. The accounting and operations teams are highly collaborative and focused on improving cost transparency, enhancing margin analysis, and leveraging systems to streamline reporting and decision-making. To be considered for this specific position, you would need to have: 3-5+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on cost accounting or manufacturing accounting Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold Experience working in a manufacturing, logistics, or operations-heavy environment preferred ERP system experience required (multi-location or complex environment preferred) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across departments Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Please apply!
