This pivotal role involves overseeing complex accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support organizational growth. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in various accounting disciplines, including governmental, non-profit, and public accounting, along with a strong understanding of financial management software and regulatory frameworks. As a senior leader within our finance team, you will play a key role in maintaining robust internal controls, streamlining financial processes, and fostering a culture of accuracy and transparency. Responsibilities Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and other relevant standards. Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger accounting. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and implement internal control procedures to safeguard assets. Lead regulatory reporting efforts for government agencies, non-profit organizations, or other stakeholders as applicable. Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, collections, and cash management activities. Coordinate external audits, prepare audit schedules, and address audit findings to improve internal controls. Oversee technical accounting issues such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, or complex financial transactions. Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis reports to support strategic decision-making. Maintain proficiency in financial software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to optimize financial operations. Conduct regular account reconciliation activities including bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliation to ensure data accuracy. Lead initiatives for process improvements in financial management workflows to enhance efficiency and compliance. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred. Extensive experience (typically 7+ years) in accounting roles with progressive responsibility; experience in governmental or non-profit sectors is advantageous. Demonstrated expertise in
IFRS, GAAP
standards, and technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping and account analysis. Strong knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal control frameworks. Proficiency with multiple accounting software platforms including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or equivalent financial management tools. Solid understanding of cash management strategies and payroll processing procedures. Ability to interpret complex financial data through effective financial analysis and report writing skills. Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and external auditors.
