The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance organization through accurate and timely preparation of financial information, account reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and analysis. This position assists with month-end and year-end close activities, supports budget and variance review processes, and helps ensure the integrity of financial records in accordance with internal policies and accounting standards. The Staff Accountant will also support annual audit activities, including preparation of audit schedules, sample documentation, and explanations for account activity and variances. This Staff Accountant will collaborate with internal stakeholders, maintain confidentiality of financial information, assist with process improvement and internal control activities, and contribute to a positive team atmosphere. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DUTIES QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline 1+ years of professional work experience in accounting Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial schedules, and supporting documentation Experience supporting external audit requests, including preparation of PBC items, audit schedules, account support, and explanations for account activity or variances, is preferred Experience with fixed asset accounting and/or capital project accounting is a plus Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is highly desired Experience with expense management, corporate credit cards, or T&E platforms is preferred; Brex experience is a plus Extensive working knowledge of PC functions and Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Must be detail oriented, well organized, able to manage time effectively, prioritize competing responsibilities, and meet established deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, display initiative, collaborate cross-functionally, and solve problems with proficiency JOB DUTIES
Prepare, review, and enter journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations in support of monthly and annual close processes. Research, resolve, and document reconciliation issues, including preparing supporting schedules and explanations for manager review. Prepare financial statements, budget files, reports, and supporting documentation as needed. Review T&E submissions and corporate credit card activity to ensure timely completion, proper coding, approval, and compliance with company policies; make corrections as needed. Administer the Brex credit card and T&E system, including supporting expense review, reporting, and related finance processes. Assist cost center owners with reviewing actual versus budgeted spend across general ledger accounts and preparing any necessary corrections or reclassifications. Analyze financial information by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying data accuracy, researching variances, and creating ad hoc reports as needed. Support the Finance organization during the annual audit, including preparing PBC items, retrieving sample data, providing supporting documentation, and explaining year-over-year and actual-versus-budget variances. Prepare, post, and support personnel cost-related journal entries, including payroll, benefits, and related accruals. Administer capital project and fixed asset processes, including maintaining related records and supporting proper accounting treatment. Perform processes related to internal controls and support compliance with company accounting policies and procedures. Safeguard confidential financial, employee, and company information. Support special projects, process improvements, and other Finance initiatives as needed. Able and willing to work necessary hours to meet all project deadlines and travel when necessary. Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. This position regularly requires large amounts of time to be spent using and viewing computer screens and equipment, which generally entails regular and repetitive motions.
