  • $87,654 The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA) organizational unit operates in accordance with NC General Statute 143b in that the NCDMVA assists veterans, their families, and their dependents in obtaining or maintaining privileges, rights, and benefits to which they are entitled under Federal, State, or local laws.
The State Veterans Homes Program organizational unit, as defined by NC General Statute 143b, Part 10, provides statewide highly qualified long-term skilled nursing care to qualified veterans and/or spouses of veterans (as required and/or qualified). The State Cemetery Program organizational unit, as defined by NC General Statute 65-43, provides statewide burial services to qualified veterans and/or spouses of veterans (as required and/or qualified). Responsible for administering the agency's cash management functions, including deposits, transfers, reclassifications, preparing journal vouchers, maintenance of general ledger and aids in maintaining financial records. Process agency electronic check deposits in Wells Fargo merchant system. Maintains agency programs revenue reconciliations process. Distribute daily and monthly financial reports and compile statistical data. Assist with month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing. Positions serve as purchasing and contracts backup. Provides assistance, in P-Card reconciliation process, annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR) preparation, and year-end closeout. Support audit processes by retrieving requested documentation. Complete special projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/ Competencies Demonstrated experience applying state rules and regulations on fiscal and accounting practices and procedures. Experience analyzing and correcting financial problems and accounting errors. Experience in analytical accounting or financial reports. Experience developing complex accounting worksheets and reports. Management Prefers Previous IBIS, NCFS, and NCFS Cash Management and NCAS Experience preferred Minimum Education and Experience Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
