ROLE OVERVIEW
As a Staff Accountant, you will assist other accounting and billing support functions (accounts payable & accounts receivable). You are responsible for the accurate processing of invoices, expenses, reports and credit card logs. Ensures deadlines are met and accounting and customer issues are handled in a timely manner.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
(summary of components that make up the job) Support the financial workflow of active revenue centers. Works with the internal accounting teams to ensure accuracy and compliance are running smoothly in production, billing, inventory consumption. Assist in managing the financial activity of aggregate, asphalt and ready-mix concrete producing centers. Ability to coordinate material flow, track inventories and support efficient plant operations while maintaining accurate reporting and alignment with production demands. Skilled at balancing supply, production schedules and operational controls. Support monthly and year-end closing cycles by monitoring revenue and cost activity. Assist with project audits and helping maintain accurate documentation across our systems. Throughout the month, you'll review inventory schedules and help keep financial schedules organized and audit-ready. Ensure DOT, MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance. Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
(types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Able to work independently and under time constraints.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
(minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements) Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Strong analytical and financial skills. High ethical and moral standards. Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record. Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights and some Saturdays.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
(preferred requirements i.e. certifications, software use, etc.) 2 years of related experience Experience with construction ERP systems (e.g.,JD Edwards)
