Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Tax Accountant with CPA certification to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will oversee payroll tax compliance, ensure accurate reporting, and support the organization's financial operations related to employee compensation and tax obligations. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining regulatory adherence, optimizing payroll processes, and safeguarding the company's financial integrity. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of tax accounting, payroll systems, and relevant financial regulations, enabling us to deliver precise and timely payroll services. Duties Manage payroll tax filings, including federal, state, and local tax reports, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. Reconcile payroll accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations related to payroll liabilities. Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data for tax reporting purposes. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax laws affecting payroll and implement necessary adjustments. Prepare detailed financial reports on payroll taxes and related expenses for management review. Assist with internal audits and ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls for payroll processes. Support payroll processing by integrating accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero with tax compliance requirements. Conduct analysis of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors and resolve issues promptly. Contribute to process improvements in payroll accounting workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Stay informed on securities law, estate planning, Wills, trusts & estate law as they relate to employee benefits or executive compensation plans. Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required with proven experience in tax accounting or payroll taxation. Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), financial concepts, and regulatory reporting standards. Extensive experience with payroll systems and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms. Demonstrated expertise in estate planning, Wills, trusts & estate law as they pertain to employee benefits or executive compensation. Proficiency in SOX compliance procedures and internal control frameworks. Solid understanding of securities law, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and financial analysis techniques. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately. Experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments preferred. Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices is a plus. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
