Job Title:
Junior Accountant Speare Memorial Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support general accounting operations and financial reporting. This role contributes to the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial data, assists with month-end close, and supports audits and regulatory reporting. This is an ideal opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to develop technical skills and gain exposure to a wide range of accounting functions within a collaborative healthcare environment. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation Support financial reporting and ensure accuracy of accounting records Assist in the preparation of state and federal financial reports Participate in the annual financial audit and support audit requests Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting workflows and help implement solutions Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial data and reporting Provide cross-functional support within the Finance team as needed (e.g., reconciliations, reporting, or analysis) Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and applicable regulations Demonstrate the organization's mission and values through teamwork, respect, and communication Track and communicate progress toward personal and professional development goalsWhat We're Looking For:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent 0-3 years of accounting or related experience Strong attention to detail and accuracy Solid understanding of basic accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple prioritiesPreferred:
