SENIOR ACCOUNTING MANUFACTURING FINANCE AND INVENTORY CONTROL
Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on and operationally focused Senior Accounting Manager to support and strengthen the accounting and financial operations of our fast-growing food manufacturing business. This role will play a critical part in inventory accounting, cost accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, ERP discipline, and cross-functional operational support. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing accounting experience, preferably within food, beverage, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or distribution environments, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting where building structure, improving processes, and supporting operational growth are essential. This position will work closely with Operations, Warehouse, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Leadership teams to ensure financial accuracy, inventory integrity, and scalable accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting:
Own inventory accounting processes, including inventory valuation, reconciliations, reserve analysis, cycle counts, and physical inventory controls. Manage cost accounting activities, including labor, overhead, material variance analysis, and COGS reporting. Analyze inventory movements, obsolescence, shrinkage, write-offs, landed costs, and manufacturing variances. Ensure alignment between inventory subledger activity and the general ledger. Support inventory control improvements and collaborate with operations teams to improve accuracy and accountability.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close:
Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and operational reporting. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives. Provide meaningful financial insights and variance explanations to leadership.
ERP & Process Improvement:
Support ERP system integrity, reporting accuracy, and process optimization. Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting workflows and improve financial controls. Develop and maintain accounting procedures, documentation, and process controls. Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and operational efficiency.
Audit & Compliance:
Support external audits, internal audits, and compliance initiatives. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. Assist with documentation and preparation for audits and financial reviews.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Mentor and support accounting staff as needed. Partner closely with Operations, Procurement, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and HR teams. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented work environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience within manufacturing, food manufacturing, CPG, or distribution environments.
Strong experience with:
Inventory accounting Cost accounting Month-end close Financial reporting Variance analysis ERP systems Experience supporting physical inventory and cycle count processes. Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. ERP experience required; NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving operational environment. Food manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
