Role Overview:
The Senior Tax Accountant serves as a trusted advisor to clients while managing complex tax engagements and contributing to the firm's growth. This role requires strong technical expertise in tax compliance and planning, the ability to mentor junior staff, and a focus on delivering proactive, value-added client service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review complex corporate tax returns (1065, 1120, 1120S) and high-net-worth individual returns (1040).
  • Provide advanced tax planning strategies using BNA, CCH, or similar platforms to optimize client outcomes.
  • Lead and review monthly, quarterly, and annual book closings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Apply expertise in trust and estate planning, including estate, trust, and gift tax compliance, individual income tax, and foreign financial reporting.
  • Utilize and guide others in tax preparation software (CCH ProSystem Fx preferred) to streamline efficiency.
  • Mentor and support staff accountants by reviewing work, providing feedback, and fostering professional development.
  • Collaborate with partners and managers to deliver seamless client service and cross-functional solutions.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, strengthening relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Participate in business development efforts by representing the firm at client meetings and networking opportunities.
  • Demonstrate leadership by modeling a positive, solution-oriented approach with clients and colleagues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA license strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in public accounting, with exposure to both individual and corporate taxation.
  • Strong technical expertise in tax compliance, planning, and accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with QuickBooks and tax software (CCH ProSystem Fx, CCH Planner, BNA, PPC) preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and staff.
  • Proven track record of managing client relationships and mentoring junior staff.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet client deliverables.
