Job Description

The Doubletree by Hilton Newark Penn Station hotel is centrally located in the heart of downtown Newark. Attached to the Newark Penn Train Station, this location provides hotel guest an easy and quick access to the trains, offering a convenient way to explore New York City and the surrounding areas. The Doubletree by Hilton Newark Penn-Station is seeking an Accounting Generalist. As an Accounting Generalist, you would be responsible for responding to guest inquiries, resolving guest-billing disputes, performing month-end duties and preparing daily receivables in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. The Accounting Generalist will compile, compute, and record billing, accounting, statistical, and other numerical data for billing purposes and to keep financial records complete. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Job Responsibilities:
Preparing daily cash deposits Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable Processing invoices and statements Preparing payments for vendors Performing monthly account audits Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and other accounts. Communicate and collaborate with other departments, vendors, and customers in order to research and resolve accounting issues and discrepancies Maintain contract files, certificates of insurance, and billing-related paperwork as needed Assist with audit requests and provide support for various accounting functions as needed Managing payroll for employees as needed Process taxes and prepare related reports as needed
Job Qualifications:
2 + years of experience in hotel accounting; general cashiering, AR/AP, and auditing in hospitality environment An associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required; a bachelor's degree is preferred Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office is essential. A solid understanding of financial principles and accounting terminology is also required. Attention to detail and accuracy, organizational and time management skills, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, communication and interpersonal skills, teamwork and collaboration skills, adaptability and flexibility skills
