Job Description

A Senior Accountant/Controller in real estate manages the full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for a portfolio of properties (commercial or residential). This role ensures accurate GAAP reporting, oversees AP/AR, reconciles accounts, prepares monthly financial packages, and often handles CAM reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting.
Core Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close:
Perform month-end closing, reconcile bank accounts, and produce monthly financial packages (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Budget Variance) for stakeholders.
Property Accounting:
Manage lease administration data, fixed assets, deferred rent, and accruals, often in accordance with GAAP.
Cash Management:
Own cash flow management for assigned assets, including monitoring liquidity and managing funding requests.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Work with asset managers to develop annual operating budgets, forecasts, and CAM reconciliations.
Audit/Tax Support:
Prepare year-end work paper packages for tax accounting and external auditors.
Operational Oversight:
Review AP/AR, oversee tenant billing, and ensure accurate coding and posting of transactions.
Required Skills & Qualifications Experience:
3-5+ years of experience in real estate property accounting.
Software Proficiency:
Proficiency in
QuickBooks Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of GAAP and commercial lease accounting.
Analytical Skills:
Strong ability to analyze budget variances and financial trends.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
