Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Accounting Intern to join our client to support accurate financial processing and reporting within mortgage default servicing operations. This contract role is based in Yardley, PA and operates onsite during standard business hours. The position focuses on managing complex payment applications, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines. This individual will play a key role in minimizing financial risk, maintaining data integrity, and supporting operational efficiency across default-related accounting functions.Compensation:
$22-$24/hourWork Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Key Responsibilities of theAccounting Intern:
Oversee the application and reconciliation of payments across default servicing transactions, including claims, settlements, and third-party funds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Manage suspense accounts by monitoring balances, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with investor and insurer requirements to reduce risk exposure Process vendor-related financial activities, including invoice payments, incentive fee distributions, and bill-back transactions Prepare and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and audit documentation to support internal tracking, management review, and regulatory compliance Collaborate cross-functionally with servicing teams, external partners, and legal entities to address account issues and support resolution efforts Conduct quality checks and audits on loan servicing and accounting activities, escalating concerns and identifying trends for process improvement Support special projects and departmental initiatives while consistently meeting performance standards for accuracy, productivity, and turnaround times Qualifications and Skills for theAccounting Intern:
1-3 years of experience in mortgage servicing, financial services, or a related accounting function A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered Strong numerical aptitude with the ability to analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies effectively Familiarity with default servicing processes and regulatory guidelines (FHA, VA, FNMA, FHLMC) is a plus Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders Experience working independently and adapting to new systems or industry-specific software tools; exposure to platforms such as Alltel or Fidelity is advantageous Why Join Us?
