Job Description
Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting, direct hire placement of accounting and finance professionals, is recruiting to fill a Staff Accountant role for a private trust company in Reno. The successful candidate will be responsible for accounting-related tasks including the maintenance of the general ledger, monthly financial reporting, and tax and audit support for multiple business entities. This is an opportunity to work in a small office environment with a fantastic benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the general ledger for multiple business entities.
- Complete month-end and year-end general ledger closing tasks, including making journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and collecting/maintaining supporting documentation.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages.
- Vendor profile maintenance including W-9 collections.
- Maintain electronic library for accounting and investment-related documents.
- Provide support for annual audits and tax filings.
- Prepare and file form 1099s.
- Support with ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with QuickBooks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently and in a small office environment.
- Must possess a high degree of integrity, respect for others, and trust to handle sensitive financial information.
- At least 3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a detail-focused business environment.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline is preferred.
- Working knowledge of fundamental accounting practices, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and closing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to use spreadsheets effectively for financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience using QuickBooks for transaction processing and financial record maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work independently in a small office setting.
- Demonstrated discretion, sound judgment, and integrity when handling sensitive financial information.
