Job Description

Hospitality Accountant Big Ditch Brewing Company | Buffalo, NY Full-Time | On-Site Big Ditch Brewing Company is a growing production brewery with two high-volume taprooms, and we're looking for a Hospitality Accountant who wants to be more than just back-office support. In this role, you'll work directly with ownership and operations to ensure that every dollar flowing through our taprooms is accurate, reconciled, and actionable. From daily Toast POS reconciliation to month-end reporting, you'll be hands-on in the financial engine that keeps our business running. What You'll Own Taproom Revenue & POS Reconciliation Perform daily sales reconciliation across two taproom locations (POS, cash, credit cards, and deposits) Investigate and resolve discrepancies between POS reports and actual receipts Track comps, voids, discounts, and employee meals in accordance with policy Reconcile gift card balances and monitor redemption activity Review third-party payment settlements to ensure completeness and accuracy Accounts Payable (Taproom Operations) Process and code invoices for food, beverage, supplies, and services Match purchase orders, invoices, and receipts; escalate discrepancies Assist with weekly check runs and maintain organized vendor records Reconcile petty cash and taproom operating funds Inventory & Cost Tracking Support inventory counts across beer, wine, spirits, and food Record inventory adjustments and transfers between locations Track pour cost, beverage cost %, and variance reporting Identify unusual shrinkage or cost trends and flag for review Payroll & Tip Compliance Compile and verify weekly timekeeping for hourly employees Ensure tip pools, allocations, and tip credits are accurately recorded and compliant with NYS labor law Support onboarding documentation related to payroll and employee records Reporting & Month-End Close Prepare daily sales summaries, labor reports, and weekly flash reporting Support KPI tracking (revenue per seat, check averages, labor %, beverage mix) Assist with month-end close (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations) Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation Sales Tax & Compliance Support accurate coding of taxable sales (food vs. beverage distinctions under NYS rules) Prepare documentation for sales tax filings Maintain records supporting NYSLA and TTB compliance General Accounting Partner with Senior Accountant on analysis and process improvements Maintain organized accounting records and filing systems Serve as a resource to taproom managers on day-to-day accounting questions What We're Looking For Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience Hospitality experience strongly preferred (restaurant, bar, hotel, etc.) Experience with POS systems and daily sales reconciliation Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals (debits/credits, reconciliations) Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) High attention to detail with strong ownership and follow-through Preferred Experience in a brewery, restaurant group, or beverage operation Familiarity with Toast or similar POS systems Exposure to payroll processing and tipped-wage environments Knowledge of NYS sales tax for food & beverage Experience with inventory systems integrated with accounting software Why This Role Stands Out Not a siloed accounting role — you'll work directly with operations and ownership High visibility impact — your work directly supports daily business performance Growth opportunity as the company expands Be part of a recognized Buffalo craft brewery brand Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary (based on experience) Health insurance contribution Paid time off + holidays Employee discounts (taproom + merchandise) Work Environment Based at our Buffalo production facility Regular interaction with taproom locations Monday-Friday schedule (with occasional flexibility during month-end or peak periods)

$65,000.00 - $82,500.00 per year
