Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a metal fabrication organization in Buffalo, New York on a contract-to-permanent basis. This position supports core accounting operations by handling daily financial activities, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to a well-organized month-end process. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in general ledger work, journal entries, and payables and receivables management within a fast-paced business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting activity across accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Record, review, and post journal entries to support routine transactions and period-end accounting needs.
- Maintain the general ledger by reconciling balances, researching discrepancies, and preserving data accuracy.
- Support month-end close tasks by preparing account analyses and assisting with financial record updates.
- Monitor incoming and outgoing payments, follow up on outstanding balances, and help maintain healthy cash flow visibility.
- Prepare and organize documentation needed for corporate tax and sales tax reporting requirements.
- Assist with day-to-day accounting operations by verifying transactions, updating records, and responding to internal financial inquiries. Requirements
- Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with responsibility for daily transactional accounting.
- Practical knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity.
- Ability to prepare and post journal entries with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with corporate tax concepts, including support for corporate tax return preparation.
- Working knowledge of sales tax processes and related documentation requirements.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities effectively.
- Proficiency using accounting systems and spreadsheet tools to maintain accurate financial records.
