Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the preparation of accurate financial statements. Your expertise will help drive sound financial decision-making and maintain the integrity of our financial data. Responsibilities Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards. Conduct general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections. Perform bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and journal entries to support daily financial operations. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic planning initiatives. Support internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and audit preparations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical accounting issues such as non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, or securities law compliance as needed. Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, Xero, or similar platforms to streamline processes. Contribute to financial report writing and interpretation to facilitate informed management decisions. Mentor junior team members by sharing best practices in accounting procedures and software utilization. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting environments. Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, double-entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and accrual accounting methods. Familiarity with regulatory reporting standards including SOX compliance and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is a plus. Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required. Experience with financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and audit support. Knowledge of technical accounting concepts including Wills & Trusts law or estate law is advantageous but not required. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
