The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting related to our construction and development projects. This includes overseeing project budgets, monitoring costs, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Key Responsibilities:
1) Project Accounting:
Develop, implement, and maintain the construction management system, including setting up projects (jobs), budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and various construction progress reports. Review and analyze capitalization of costs to ensure compliance with company policy. 2) Financial Reporting:
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement. 3) Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Oversee the processing of invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments. Manage collections and ensure timely receipt of payments from clients. 4) Budget Management:
Collaborate with project managers to develop and monitor project budgets. Provide financial insights to support decision-making and project planning. 5) Compliance and Auditing Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific regulations. Coordinate with external auditors during audits and implement recommendations as needed. 6) Team Leadership:
Work with fellow accounting staff collaboratively to meet deliverables Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment within the accounting department. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. A minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on construction or real estate development is preferred Knowledge of local and federal tax regulations related to the construction industry is preferred Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of project accounting, cost control, and financial reporting. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. The base salary range for this position is currently targeted at $70,000 to $90,000 annually and may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus subject to performance. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a few factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
