Job Description

About the Role We are seeking a detail-driven Staff Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, claim-heavy environment. This is not a typical accounting role — a major portion of your day will be spent identifying claims that have not been paid, following up directly with insurance carriers, reconciling denials and short payments, and ensuring every dollar owed is accounted for and recovered. You will also own the reporting and analysis that helps leadership understand where money is stuck and why. This position will report Directly to the Full Charge Bookkeeper/Controller Responsibilities
  • Identify, track, and aggressively follow up on unpaid, underpaid, and denied insurance claims
  • Communicate directly with insurance carriers to resolve outstanding balances and billing disputes
  • Must also have a gentle touch with client that owe money , but also be able to collect from them
  • Reconcile claim payments, denials, and adjustments against expected receivables
  • Prepare and resubmit claims documentation as needed to support recovery efforts
  • Maintain an organized aging report of open claims and escalate unresolved items appropriately
  • Record and post all insurance-related transactions accurately in the accounting system
  • Prepare monthly financial reports summarizing claims status, recovery rates, and outstanding balances
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and carrier remittances
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist with audits and provide documentation related to claims accounting
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure claim submissions are complete and accurate upfront Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience; insurance industry background strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with insurance claims billing, follow-up, and carrier reconciliation — a huge plus
  • Experience working directly with insurance carriers or third-party administrators
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and accounting software such as QuickBooks
  • Solid understanding of accounts receivable principles
  • Persistent, proactive communicator — comfortable making follow-up calls and escalating when needed
Pay:
$55,000.00
  • $65,000.
