Dobbins 20 reviews $65,000 - $85,000 a year - Full-time Staff Accountant Position Summary HH Dobbins is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting and finance functions of the organization. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, assisting with payroll administration, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities General Accounting Prepare and maintain general ledger account reconciliations. Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances. Record and review journal entries. Assist with maintenance of fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. Support daily accounting operations and financial reporting activities. Month-End and Year-End Close Assist in the preparation and completion of month-end close activities. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare supporting schedules. Support year-end audit and tax preparation activities. Prepare documentation and analysis requested by management and external auditors. Payroll Administration Process weekly payroll accurately and timely. Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation. Review payroll reports for accuracy and compliance. Coordinate with Human Resources regarding employee changes affecting payroll. Employee Onboarding and Compliance Maintain employee personnel files and related documentation. Ensure onboarding paperwork is completed, filed, and retained according to company requirements. Support compliance with employment-related regulations and company policies. Maintain accurate records for employee training and required documentation. ERP and Process Improvement Assist with ERP system maintenance, testing, and implementation activities. Support process improvement initiatives within accounting and administrative functions. Recommend efficiencies to improve accuracy, compliance, and reporting capabilities. Reporting and Analysis Prepare recurring financial reports and supporting schedules. Assist management with financial analysis and special projects. Provide timely and accurate information to support business decisions. QualificationsEducation and Experience Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience preferred. Experience with payroll processing preferred. ERP system experience strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of general accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reporting Structure This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer. Ability to occasionally lift and carry files or office materials up to 25 pounds. Compensation and Benefits Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
