Project Accountant - Construction (New Rochelle, NY)
Salary:
$125,000 (open depending on experience) | Full-Time | On-Site A well?established construction company in New Rochelle, NY is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support financial oversight across multiple active projects. This role is fully in?office, Monday through Friday, and requires a professional who is comfortable working closely with project teams, operations, and senior finance leadership. Position Overview The Project Accountant will be responsible for tracking project costs, analyzing financial performance, preparing reports, and supporting project managers with budgeting, forecasting, and billing. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting decision?making for both current and future projects. Key Responsibilities Track and analyze project costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and other job?related expenses Prepare and maintain project budgets in collaboration with Project Managers Analyze budget variances and prepare cost?to?complete estimates Prepare monthly forecasts, cash flow projections, and revenue projections Generate monthly operating and financial reports for management review Assist Project Managers with progress billing, change orders, and subcontractor documentation Review internal equipment billings and ensure proper allocation to projects Support the Regional Controller with forecasting, business planning, and financial analysis Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures Required Qualifications 5+ years of construction accounting experience (any construction sector acceptable) Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus but not required Strong understanding of job cost accounting and construction financial principles Experience with percentage?of?completion accounting preferred Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports and projections Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with project teams High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems; experience with JDE is a plus Advanced Excel skills and strong overall computer proficiency Working Conditions Full?time, in?office role based in New Rochelle, NY Standard office environment with extended periods of computer work Occasional standing, walking, or light lifting as needed Compensation & Benefits Target salary: $125,000, with flexibility based on experience and seniority Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with match Paid time off and additional company benefits Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $125,000.00 - $130,000.00
