This Project Accountant role in Manhattan within the building and construction industry focuses on managing project financials, including AIA billing, subcontractor requisitions, and cash flow tracking. Client Details The client is a building and construction industry firm in Manhattan that specializes in managing and delivering complex building projects. They are seeking a Project Accountant to support financial operations and ensure accurate project-level accounting across their portfolio. Description The key responsibilities for the Project Accountant are: Manage project financials end-to-end, including preparing AIA owner billings, processing subcontractor requisitions, and tracking project cash flow Ensure contract compliance by verifying subcontractor insurance, billing procedures, and terms Support budget management by coordinating updates with Purchasing and Project Managers Oversee weekly disbursements by selecting and processing invoices for payment Partner with Project Managers and Executives to resolve accounting issues and maintain accurate project reporting Collaborate with senior finance leadership (Controller, CFO) on billing schedules, financial close processes, and overall project P&L impact Profile The successful Projecy Accountant will: Experience in project or construction accounting, with a strong understanding of billing processes such as AIA requisitions Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong team player with excellent communication skills, comfortable partnering with project teams and senior finance leadership Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving ability, with a solid grasp of budgeting, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting Experience with Sage, Textura, Procore, or similar systems is a plus Job Offer Opportunity to work on high-profile construction projects in Manhattan within a growing firm Strong exposure to senior leadership (Controller, CFO) and involvement in key financial decision-making Collaborative, team-oriented environment with career growth potential in project accounting Hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, enhancing both technical and operational skills $100-130k salary + benefits MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
