A well-established, mission-driven educational organization in New York's Capital Region is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to join its leadership team. This is a highly visible role that works closely with executive leadership and plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys digging into the details, takes ownership of their work, and is eager to contribute beyond the basic responsibilities of the position. What You'll Do Manage accounting activities across multiple funds, including general, capital, grant, and agency funds Prepare and review financial statements, reports, journal entries, and reconciliations Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements Oversee cash management, investments, and monthly bank reconciliations Support annual audits and coordinate documentation for external auditors Assist with grant accounting, financial reporting, and budget development Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to leadership Maintain strong internal controls and safeguard organizational assets Partner with leadership on special projects and continuous process improvements Provide guidance and support to business office staff and stakeholders What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in nonprofit or public sector Strong background in fund accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, reporting, and pivot tables Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities Strong communication and collaboration skills Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a sense of urgency Why Consider This Opportunity?
