Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a team in Rochester, New York in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage core close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and support day-to-day general ledger operations. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced environment while helping ensure timely and reliable financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead key activities related to the monthly close process to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and alignment to accounting standards.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by reviewing account activity and resolving discrepancies.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations and follow through on outstanding items to completion.
• Complete bank reconciliations regularly to verify cash activity and investigate variances.
• Analyze financial data and account balances to identify errors, trends, and areas requiring correction.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for accounting entries and close deliverables. Requirements
• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a senior-level or progressively responsible role.
• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Background in completing bank reconciliations and researching reconciling items.
• Solid analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize multiple priorities effectively.
