The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. Reporting to the Controller, this position provides an excellent opportunity for career growth within a dynamic and supportive work environment. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This role involves managing financial transactions, supporting audit processes, and contributing to financial planning initiatives. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes Prepare, enter, and post journal entries Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy in financial reporting Prepare and maintain financial reports and statements in accordance with GAAP. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations. Assist with audits and tax filings by gathering necessary documentation. Generate and send customer invoices and statements Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, and short payments Manage collections by following up on overdue accounts Prepare monthly AR reports and analysis for management Prepare commissions report for brokers and post to accounting system Serve as Accounts Payable backup - Process vendor invoices and payments Contribute to the development and maintenance of business processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or CPA candidate is a plus. Experience with ERP accounting systems (e.g., Sage 100).
