Accounting Coordinator Position Summary We are currently seeking detail-oriented Accounting Coordinator to join our finance team. The Accounting Coordinator, reporting to the Finance Director, will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, including financial recordkeeping, reconciliations, journal entries, payroll-related accruals, audit preparation and financial reporting support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance / Accounting:
Assist the Finance Director with the corporation's financial recordkeeping procedures, including but not limited to cash disbursements, cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related entries, journal entries, trial balances, financial reports, balance sheets and supporting schedules. Prepare and post routine monthly journal entries, including payroll accruals, vacation accruals, 403(b) match accruals, thrift shop inventory, investment activity and prepaid insurance entries. Perform credit card reconciliations, thrift shop sales reconciliations, daily banking reconciliations and reconciliations with Development/Fundraising records. Maintain and update grant spreadsheets as grants are received and activity occurs. Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare sales tax information for the thrift shop and assist with other periodic filings and reporting as needed. Process and reconcile quarterly benefit and insurance-related invoices. Assist the Finance Director with budget entry, budget schedules and financial reporting support. Assist with annual audit preparation, including maintaining organized supporting documentation for accounting transactions, reconciliations and schedules. Annual 1099 reporting, W-2 review and year-end payroll-related processes. Maintain recurring year-end payroll items in ADP Workforce Now, including batch-related items as directed. Support the development and improvement of accounting processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Perform other functions as assigned by the Finance Director. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 4 years of accounting, bookkeeping or finance experience required. Prior experience with general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll-related accounting required. QuickBooks Desktop experience required. Strong Microsoft Excel skills required. ADP Workforce Now experience strongly preferred. Nonprofit, healthcare, hospice, grant accounting or fund accounting experience preferred. Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail required. Accuracy, confidentiality and follow-through are essential. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, handle recurring monthly/quarterly/annual tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
