Job DescriptionJob Description We are looking for an Accountant to support essential financial operations for a non-profit organization in Dayton, Ohio. This contract to hire position focuses on maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting monthly close activities, and ensuring timely financial reporting and compliance tasks. The ideal candidate will bring practical accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage reconciliations, fixed assets, and general ledger activity with accuracy. Responsibilities:
Manage fixed asset records by tracking acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and related documentation. Calculate and record depreciation on a routine basis to keep financial statements current and accurate. Contribute to month-end close by assisting with account analysis, reporting, and completion of scheduled deadlines. Prepare, review, and distribute 1099 forms accurately and within required reporting timelines. Reconcile bank and investment accounts each month and produce supporting reconciliation reports. Compile and submit public housing operating subsidy documentation in accordance with reporting requirements. Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger while maintaining proper supporting records. Write off tenant balances and report to fabcogroup.com Work closely with internal teams and communicate with tenants Provide additional accounting support and complete special assignments as requested by the Controller.
2+ years of accounting experience in a detail-focused environment.
Working knowledge of general ledger processes, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
Experience maintaining fixed asset schedules and recording depreciation activity.
Familiarity with preparing and issuing Form 1099 documentation.
Proficiency with accounting software systems; experience with Yardi is preferred.
Understanding of bank account reconciliation and monthly financial reporting practices.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy in handling financial data.
