Job Description

Staff Accountant I Reports To:
Assistant Controller About Freeman Products, Inc. Established in 1979, Freeman Products is a growing family-owned company based in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. We manufacture drywall finishing materials and sell them through a network of dealers in Oklahoma and the surrounding states, as well as our own stores in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma City, and Baton Rouge. Position Summary The Staff Accountant I is an entry-level role responsible for all accounts receivable activities, along with support for general ledger functions, account reconciliations, basic reporting, and inventory processes. This position ensures accurate financial records, timely collections, and supports daily accounting operations and month-end close.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Accounts Receivable & Collections Manage all accounts receivable functions including cash application, billing support, and collections Prepare daily cash deposits, maintain cash control sheets, and post cash receipts Process credit card deposits and update the accounts receivable ledger by customer Research and resolve discrepancies including short pay, chargebacks, returns, bad checks, and misapplied payments Respond to customer billing inquiries and provide invoice copies as requested. Collaborate with the sales team to follow up with customers via phone and email on outstanding balances and resolve payment issues Maintain and review collection logs; follow up on aged receivables and disputes. Manage new customer account setup, including entry and maintenance of customer data and pricing structures Maintain accurate customer records, including sales tax exemption documentation Accounting & Reconciliation Prepare journal entries and assist with general ledger maintenance Perform month-end close tasks, including account reconciliations Reconcile bank statements and ensure subledgers tie to the general ledger Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and process adjustments or refunds as needed Inventory & Operational Support Assist with inventory control processes, including material requisitions and kit breakdowns Support inventory tracking and accuracy initiatives Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counts Administrative & General Duties Maintain organized filing systems for physical and electronic documents Perform general office duties such as answering phones and ordering supplies Attend company meetings and follow company policies and procedures Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned Required Skills & Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 1-3 years of accounting or accounts receivable experience preferred Basic understanding of accounting principles Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods of time Dependable and reliable Team-oriented with a positive attitude Willingness to learn and adapt to change Schedule and Availability Full-Time Monday- Friday Occasional overtime may be required during month-end close and/or physical inventory counts
Benefits Paid Holidays:
Eligible after a 90-day probationary period

$45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
