Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a client in the OKC area. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in financial recordkeeping, close activities, and account analysis who can contribute to accurate and timely reporting. The role offers the opportunity to work across key accounting functions while helping maintain strong financial controls and reporting integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, resolving discrepancies, and supporting overall data accuracy.
- Assist with month-end close by organizing schedules, completing assigned close tasks, and meeting reporting deadlines.
- Calculate and record accruals based on supporting documentation and established accounting procedures.
- Perform account reconciliations regularly to verify balances and identify items requiring follow-up.
- Investigate ledger variances and correct issues through detailed analysis and appropriate adjustments.
- Use Microsoft Excel to organize financial data, build supporting schedules, and analyze account activity.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information needed for accounting entries, reconciliations, and reporting requirements. Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in an accounting role with exposure to general ledger activities and close processes.
- Practical knowledge of preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Experience supporting month-end close in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of general ledger structure and balance sheet reconciliation practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data review, analysis, and reporting support.
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and follow through on resolution.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders.
