Non-Exempt About theOpportunity:
Washington County's Finance Department is seeking a Senior Accounting Assistant to support key financial operations within the organization. This position is responsible for performing the final internal audit and review of transient lodging tax receivables, as well as administering the County's procurement and travel card programs. The role plays an important part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, consistent application of policies, and adherence to established internal controls. We are seeking an individual who can apply sound judgment, maintain high standards of accuracy, and contribute to the development and implementation of effective financial procedures. Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Workday or similar ERP systems used for financial and accounting recordkeeping. Financial and accounting practices, including reconciliation principles and Excel-based methodologies. Applicable federal, state, and local laws that govern financial operations and audit compliance. Reconcile general ledger accounts to subsystem data with accuracy and attention to detail. Prepare documentation and respond to inquiries during external audits. Provide patient, effective customer service to individuals with varying levels of program knowledge. Maintain, balance, and organize financial records and ledgers while applying relevant policies and regulations. Possession of an Associate's Degree in accounting, business, or related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR Accounting Certificate (12 months) AND three (3) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR Five (5) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management.
