Accounting Senior Analyst

Our local client, a well-established Pacific Northwest energy and infrastructure organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Analyst to support complex accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close activities, audits, and strategic business initiatives. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with financial analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and process improvement. This role will partner closely with internal teams and leadership to ensure accurate reporting, analyze financial results, provide meaningful insights, and support business decisions within a highly regulated environment.

Portland, Oregon•HYBRID•2-days per week onsite What You'll Be Doing:
Support month-end close activities, including preparing and recording journal entries, accruals, and segment accounting activity
Analyze financial results compared to budgets and prior periods, identifying trends and providing variance explanations to leadership
Prepare account reconciliations and perform SOX controls to support accurate financial reporting
Assist with financial statement disclosure preparation and documentation
Provide support for internal and external audits
Assist with regulatory filings and reporting requirements
Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to gather information, review results, and support accounting initiatives
Prepare financial reporting packages and analysis for management review
Support forecasting activities by reviewing historical trends, cost projections, and financial data
Manage specialized accounting processes related to investments, partnerships, and operational assets
Contribute to process improvements, documentation efforts, and ad hoc accounting projects as needed
What You Bring:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting required
Active CPA certification required
5+ years of applied accounting experience
Public accounting experience strongly preferred
Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP with the ability to research and apply accounting guidance
Experience within the utility industry or a similar regulated environment preferred
Experience using SAP, general ledger systems, or other financial software strongly preferred
Experience with reconciliation tools (BlackLine preferred)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings effectively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and reporting experience
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
