Job Description

SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT
Bray & Associates NW is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. As a CPA firm working primarily with individuals and small businesses, our services include tax preparation, operational accounting support, consulting, and tax planning. Providing excellent service with a personal touch is important to us and our clients. Our Senior Accountants are at the forefront of our client management process and are expected to operate with flexibility as well as ownership in responding to both client and team needs as they arise. During tax season (Feb-Apr 15th), you will be expected to work 55/hours a week - hours worked, not billable hours. Any hours worked in excess of 40/week during tax season can be banked as additional vacation hours or be paid out as additional compensation.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:
Review tax returns Delegate work and manage the flow of projects Prepare complex tax returns while evaluating broader tax implications, planning opportunities, and client-specific considerations. Must be able to work extended hours during tax season, a minimum of 55/hours per week Client relationship management - must be willing to directly contact and meet with clients to develop and maintain relationships Analyze client financial data to propose adjusting journal entries that align financial reporting with tax and operational accounting objectives Respond to tax notices Record time for hourly billing purposes
Position Qualifications:
5 or more years tax preparation experience Licensed CPA or passed all 4 exams, will certify within 6 months of hire Has managed and reviewed the work of junior staff members Previous experience in Lacerte (preferred), ProSystem fx, or other professional tax preparation software Experience with current computer accounting programs including Adobe PDF, Excel, and QuickBooks Detail and deadline-oriented Candidate must be honest, personable, hard-working, kind, and team oriented Candidate must write well and be able to explain complex issues in simplified language
