Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a busy accounting team within a defense contracting environment. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, can contribute quickly, work independently with limited direction, and help stabilize a high-volume workload. The role will focus on core accounting operations, period-end activities, audit-related support, and revenue recognition matters while maintaining strong compliance standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage monthly and year-end close activities, ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and resolve accounting issues through detailed analysis.
  • Perform account, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations while researching and correcting variances promptly.
  • Support work-in-progress tracking and apply revenue recognition practices in accordance with ASC 606 requirements.
  • Assist with incurred cost audit support by organizing documentation, validating financial data, and responding to accounting-related requests.
  • Help the department address backlog by taking ownership of day-to-day accounting tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow established accounting policies and internal compliance standards within a regulated contractor setting.
  • Use QuickBooks Enterprise and Microsoft Office tools to analyze data, prepare reports, and improve the efficiency of recurring accounting processes.
