Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will lead complex tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards while optimizing tax strategies. Your expertise will support our organization's financial health by providing insightful analysis and maintaining rigorous accuracy in all tax-related processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work across diverse areas including estate planning, corporate accounting, and financial analysis, contributing to our commitment to excellence and integrity in financial management. Duties Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns with precision, ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations. Lead tax planning initiatives, including estate planning strategies, mergers & acquisitions, and complex transaction analysis. Conduct detailed research on securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other specialized tax credits or incentives. Support internal audits related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance by reviewing internal controls over financial reporting. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret financial reports, analyze variances, and prepare detailed financial report writing. Reconcile general ledger accounts, balance sheets, and perform account analysis to ensure accuracy in financial statements. Assist in regulatory reporting requirements and maintain thorough documentation for audit purposes. Utilize advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar tools for bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliation. Provide guidance on technical accounting issues including GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), debits & credits, and double-entry bookkeeping practices. Support payroll processing and non-profit accounting functions as needed while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification preferred. Extensive tax experience with a strong background in corporate accounting and public accounting environments. Proven expertise in estate planning, wills, trusts & estate law, and asset management strategies. Hands-on experience with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms for bookkeeping and financial analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory standards including SOX compliance and securities law. Strong understanding of GAAP principles along with experience in financial report interpretation and writing. Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices is a plus. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and financial analysis efficiently. Experience working on mergers & acquisitions projects or private equity transactions is advantageous. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
